8 Uses of Tea Bag to Improve Your Health That You May Not Know!

Don’t you love sitting with a cup of hot tea using tea bag after a long hard day? It can cheer you up instantly! But tea not only gives you energy, but it is also rich in antioxidants that fight free radicals and protects against heart disease and cancer. Tea can also accommodate a range of tastes as it can be found with unique flavors – fermented black tea, partially fermented oolong tea and unfermented green tea. No wonder it is the second most popular drink in the world after water. But if you think that a tea bag is just to make tea, you are wrong. Here you can see some interesting uses for your health that ordinary tea bags can make for you.

1. Soothe a Sunburn:

The sun’s UV rays can damage your skin, and excessive sun exposure can leave you with sore, red and sunburned skin. Applying a damp tea bag on the affected area can relieve your sunburn. According to research, epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) , a compound found in green tea works as a sunscreen and can reduce DNA damage due to UV radiation. Animal studies have found that the topical application of green tea can reduce the formation of skin cancer cells.

2. Treat Acne:

Pimple-filled pimples can not only make you feel self-conscious, but they can also be painful. But do not worry! The antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of green tea can eliminate these grains. One study caused people with mild to moderate acne to apply a lotion with 2% green tea twice a day for a period of 6 weeks. They saw a 58.33% reduction in the number of pimples on average. Therefore, applying a wet green tea bag to pimples could be a good idea to clean the skin.

3. Calms Insect Bites:

Tea has antimicrobial and astringent properties. Whether you’re looking to soothe an insect bite or a small bite on your skin, pressing a wet tea bag against irritated skin can reduce inflammation and protect against infection.

4. Help with Canker Sores:

Canker sores are common among children and can be really painful. Apply a warm, moist tea bag on the sore for 5 to 10 minutes and let the tea tannins do their magic relieving inflammation and pain.

One study found that when a formulation containing 3% green tea extract was applied to participants’ cheeks over a period of 8 weeks, skin oil production was significantly reduced. Researchers have suggested that certain compounds in green tea (α-linolenic acid and epigallocatechin gallate) work by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme (known as 5α-reductase) in your sebaceous glands. So if you have oily skin, try to stroke your face with a bag of damp green tea.

Do long nights and stress leave a mark on your eyes? Soak a couple of tea bags in warm water, squeeze out excess moisture and put them on closed eyes for 20 minutes.
